Daniel Dant is the vice president of DoD and Intelligence Programs at Lentech, Inc. He is responsible for existing Lentech defense programs and for driving continued expansion in DoD and intelligence markets. Mr. Dant transitioned from the United States Air Force in June 2016. Most recently, he served in industry as Strategic Advisor in the Pentagon. On active duty, Mr. Dant’s accomplishments and high-level positions within the DoD space community ranged from operations, national-level and DoD policy formation, intelligence, acquisitions, and programming.
Mr. Dant commanded the 460th Space Wing at Buckley Air Force Base, leading America’s space-based Infrared missile warning team. He was a Chief Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber and Space Policy. Mr. Dant was a student at the National War College, Fort McNair, Washington, DC where earned distinction as the top strategy student in mid-term assessments and the top student in China studies.
He entered the Air Force in 1990 as a distinguished graduate of the East Carolina University ROTC program. He transitioned to space operations as a flight commander for the PAVE PAWS warning radar in Cape Cod, MA. Mr. Dant was then one of fifty USAF Captains selected for the prestigious Air Force Intern Program at the Pentagon. He interned on the Air Staff in the Directorate of Operational Requirements, for the Office of the Secretary of Defense in Strategy and Requirements, and received a M.A. from George Washington University. He then completed the rigorous USAF Weapons School Schriever AFB, CO, where he deployed numerous times to integrate space capabilities in to theater operations. He was privileged to serve as the Commander, 4th Space Control Squadron, Holloman Air Force Base, NM. His unit was responsible for delivering defensive and offensive counterspace capabilities and space situation awareness, as appropriate, to rapidly achieve flexible and versatile effects in support of global and theater campaigns.
Of his many staff assignments, Mr. Dant held duties as the commander of the weapons and tactics flight for the 21st Space Wing and speechwriter for the Commander of AFSPC, CINCNORAD, and CINCSPACE. He also served as the Aide-de-Camp to the Commander, AFSPC and led the strategy and Programming Division in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisitions, Technology and Logistics.
Mr. Dant holds 4 master’s degrees and a certificate from Harvard University.
