December 25, 2021 – The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) successfully launched on Christmas day and has fully deployed and safely orbiting at the L2, where continued early-orbit checkouts, mirror alignment, and calibration will occur until full science operations begin in the Summer of 2022. Lentech staff played valuable roles in the development, integration and launch of JWST, as well as in support of communication and public outreach initiatives. “We are excited to JWST make it safely through launch and the challenging deployment phase”, stated Gregg Einfalt, Lentech’s president. “We are very proud of the critical roles our staff played over the many past years to reach this milestone. Like many other NASA, industry partners and multiple stakeholders, our staff dedicated their time and energy to this incredible mission. We’re excited to see how this incredible telescope will expand our understanding of the universe.”
